Ghostwriting

Ghostwriter for articles and books

They say that everyone has a novel inside them. And that might well be true. But not everyone is a skilled writer. Or, even if they have the writing ability, they might not have the time to write or be able to meet a fast-turnaround deadline. Alternatively, they might find it hard to tailor their words to fit the style of a particular publication, or they simply don't possess the ability to convey their ideas succinctly. That's where a ghostwriter comes in.

Many of the articles you read – whether 'real life' first-person pieces, opinion pieces or polemicals – are actually written by someone other than the apparent author. Occasionally, those articles will say 'as told to x', but generally the ghostwriter does not get a byline. They remain invisible. Over the years, I have taken on the personae of countless other people - household names, celebrities, academics, doctors and 'ordinary' people. I've even ghosted other writers. My skill lies in being able to write what the publication wants, in the voice of the person whose name will appear on the copy.

The publishing industry also uses ghostwriters, both for fiction and non-fiction books. I am currently ghostwriting an autobiography, which was commissioned by a publishing company specialising in real life stories. I have also been approached to ghost write a novel.

(Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, I can't go into any more detail here.)
